I've decided to read a new book called A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I like fantasy books, but I also enjoy reading books that are sweet and changing. I've only read on chapter to this story, but I find it intersting. In the first chapter, it talked about how a tree grows out of cement and "struggles to reach the sky." After the tree grew in a place, suprisingly, that section would become a tenement distirct. The author described the tree like this. "That was the kind of tree it was. It liked poor people." She also called it the tree of heaven. Such a nice name :)

AGREED. i like sweet and changing books too(: that's why Tuesdays With Morrie fit me so well. by the way, thanks for the recommendation missy. maybe i'll read this book next! the book seems to be really sweet. "that was the kind of tree ti was. it liked poor people." "the tree of heaven."
yupp- it is a nice name.
EUNBI LEE<3 I was commenting other people, and I read that Calvin also likes to read fantasy books(: I also love reading sweet or romantic books. I like how you used different shades of green in your post. It's interesting how the tree grows, and stuggles to reach the sky. What does that represent? The quotes that you used are BEAUTIFUL<3 I wrote this in most of my comments, but I hope that you enjoy reading this book(: [I mean it(:]
Hey Eun-Bi! I've read this book before and in my opinion, it wasn't the most interesting book I have ever read but there was definitely symbolism which I always love to see in books. The quote you talked about how the tree "struggles to reach the sky" is a quote that i clearly remember about that book. It was something that I kept thinking about. Hope you end up taking something useful away from the book.
The TREE OF HEAVEN. It is a very nice name (: I wonder if you climb it, will it take you there. hehe. Anyways, your description of the book seem hopeful and sad. It seems hopeful because a tree actually grows in a tough area. I'm guessing it resembles a person, growing and surviving through struggles(?), maybe. It's sad because you said it becomes a tenement district, so it much not get the love and care it needs to survive. I hope I get around to reading this book.
Eunbi!!! I have this book too. I heard it was really good. It was one of my teacher's favorite books. I like sweet books too. Like Suebin, I read Tuesdays with Morrie. "A tree of heaven" is a really nice name. I'm glad you like it. Is the book about a girl, or just the tree? Because if it's about a person too, then the tree could be representing the person. Like how they could struggle to live in a tough environment, like what Nicole said. Have fun reading! <3
i totally different! i don't like fanatsy books at all. i like thrillers and suspense, or just something i can relate to. it makes easier for me to read and understand the book.
Eunbii~
Hmm, i think i heard this book before. It seems like a cute book. Is it about like the immigrants? (i got that because of the tenenment thing).
What do you mean by changing?
By the way I love your blog, so pretty
Brooklyn!!! Aiii...feel it...
Tree of Heaven, you're living in the other side of the world Eunbi!!! Lol. Wow, you like fantasy, that's awesome. You should get to know Stephanie and Zoe more they're like geniuses on the film, Howl's Moving Castle. You might be surprised by them. Check their blogs, it's very nice. Anyway after reading your post I kept thinking of the part of the bible where Jesus preaches on how it's hard for the rich to go to heaven than the poor. :) Nice Post. Muh-sheet-da 머싯다!!! Good luck in reading the book.
